Help us keep the doors open!

Our aim at TSMP is to remain open throughout this flu and coronavirus season. To do this we need your help. We have to change the way we care for our patients with all respiratory infections.

It is important to note that the majority of coronavirus cases present as a mild respiratory illness, similar to the flu.

As with any virus it can lead to serious complications and these are most commonly seen in those people with weakened immune systems and the elderly.

Symptoms are generally  flu-like including fever, headaches, cough, and sore throat.

If a patient with coronavirus attends our clinic, sits in our waiting room or goes into a consultation room without wearing a protective mask and sanitising their hands, we will be CLOSED for cleaning and staff will need to be quarantined for two weeks.

But if a patient calls ahead, wears a mask and avoids unnecessary contact, then the medical facility they attend will not be contaminated.

Important to note:

Patients who don’t feel they have been exposed to Coronavirus, and have symptoms of a cold or flu, should also wear a mask the whole time they are in our practice.

Preventing spread of influenza and other viruses will be key to protecting the health of all of us. Having a flu, a cold and coronavirus in one season would be too much for most people. Having many people with prolonged illness will affect the ability of local businesses to provide services, and the safety of our nursing homes and schools.

To protect yourself and others from infection step up your regular hygiene routines by:

  • cleaning hands with soap and water or alcohol-based hand rubs often

  • covering your nose and mouth with a tissue or flexed elbow when coughing or sneezing

  • avoiding contact with anyone who has symptoms, keep at least 1m between yourself and others in general

  • staying home if you are unwell

  • avoiding touching your face

  • get vaccinated for influenza and pneumonia

  • wearing a well-fitting mask if you are unwell helps to prevent your virus from spreading to others in your home
